I just want to add my thoughts about another lovely hotel. I have just returned from a two months stay in Phills, and then visiting Cebu several times. I always use Hotel Casa Rosario on Ramon Aboitiz street.
The hotel is very guest friendly, have never been asked to pay for my companion (s)... Hehe!
They have several nice room layouts, and many have balconies. Price between 1100 to 1600 peso, which is ok to me. The reason why I choose this place, is that it is located on a very quiet street, just a block off Mango Square, so You are in middle of everything (5 min. walk to Viking Bar), but still very quiet at night...! They have WiFi, which works like crap, but bring the laptop to the lobby, and it works fine. Then also a desktop in the lobby area for rent. There are a few nice restaurants just next door to the hotel, and a very nice coffee shop, where I had my bacon/egg/waffle breakfast every morning!
Local phone to Casa: 2535134, 2550525
Then You have hotel Casablanca very close, or Samapguita (dirt cheap) in front of Robinson. Both are reasonable priced, but small rooms and worst of all: the electricity is turned on by the room key! How Fu**in stupid is that? Arrive home, and the room is still warm... hot, when You enter, takes one hour to cool down because the AC was not running. Then You find Your phone, which You left plugged in for charge, still being empty.... DUH!

In my opinion the best hotel in Cebu is the Marco Polo which you can get for about 85-90 USD through Asia Travel including an excellent breakfast. It is a bit distant from the entertainment areas but at night it is only a 10 minute drive. I have also stayed at the Hilton and the Shangri-La on Mactan. They are at least twice as expensive although are on the water. The beaches there have a lot of coral and in my opinion they are not worth the money

The best Hotel deal, HANDS DOWN, in cebu is the Midtown Hotel. It is extremely convenient and well priced. It is in the Heart of the Mango area. Situated right on top of Robinsons Mall which is very nice if you need some quick shopping at the spur of the moment. Its rooms are nice, similar to a 3 star hotel in the USA. It has an in house massage service which I mentioned in another post. It has a great breakfast buffet with a wonderful view. The room view on the front side is great day and night. It is girl friendly yet still secure. The price is about $40 US. You are within two blocks of all mango bars and restraunts. You just can't beat the combo of Price, Quality, and Convenience you get at the Midtown. I hope i didn't just screw myself now and create a rush which will prompt them to raise their prices

My all time favorite has been Eddies Hotel, but recently they changed the name of it since I was last there. Also stayed at the Diplomat. I think the Diplomat is running some good promo prices now. Both seem to be very girl friendly hotels.

Kiwi Lodge rules, Tudtud st in Mabolo, 1300 pesos a night and girl friendly. So close to malls and rooms are very good and safe place for me.

I have always used Eddie's Hotel. Name now changed to "Beverley Boutique" but seems to be the same staff, same breakfast, same rooms etc etc. Very girl friendly, and just a 50 meter stroll to my favorite bar Lone Star.
Last year my employer booked me into Park Lane Hotel, a newish place opposite and within walking distance of Ayala Mall. You probably need a cab though to go anywhere else, but it was a nice hotel and girl-friendly too, although I understand security may stop and question 2 or more women accompanying any punter.

I think the Diplomat is a good 10/15 minute taxi ride from SM Mall, Ayala is a bit closer. I stayed at the Midtown last trip not far from the Diplomat and right on top of Robinson's Mall. I think the Midtown is too expensive for what you get though so am considering Diplomat next time or Mango Park which is just near the clubs on Mango Ave.

When ever i go to Cebu im a "Baller on a Budget" tm So i have stayed at Eddies and the Diplomat. By Far the best bang for your buck is The Diplomat, i will be returning to this hotel every time. Great friendly staff, clean rooms, middle of action to everything and great rates. Very girl friendly i brought back different girls all through out the night no problems, even brought 5 girls at one time! Oh boy was that fun, ill try and post pics sometime there not on this computer! But if u want to really ball for one night, Marco polo or Golden prince are very nice!

Last year I stayed at the Diplomat and found it to worked out great. If U decide to stay there make sure U request your room be located in the 'New Wing '. The New Wing is located away for the lobby which seems loud and always busy.
I will be back in July this year and have rooms reserved there again..
